In 2001 the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team took on the world and against all odds, won the World Series. As much focus as was on the team, there was nearly as much focus on the team’s home field, Bank One Ballpark. From the retractable roof to the swimming pool in right field, ATL is proud to have been a part of one of the most advanced professional sports facilities in the world.
ATL provided testing and inspection services of soils, rebar, aterproofing, formwork, 80,000 cubic yards of concrete, fireproofing, masonry, paint, mechanical, stadium structural steel, retractable roof steel (20,000 tons) and pressurized chiller piping system. Work scope included shop and visual inspections, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, dye penetration testing, painting inspection, bolt torqueing in fabrication shops and field erection process. Bank One Ballpark was a fast track project involving fabrication shops in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico; these shops operated two ten hour shifts six days a week including many Sundays. The field erection process involved 220 iron workers with 100 welders and a work schedule of two nine hour shifts per day six days a week.
Bank One Ball Park has a capacity of 48,500 guests including 69 luxury boxes, 6 party boxes, 4,400 club level seats, and 1,200 field level club seats.
